Helping Solve the Workforce Crunch: Stark State’s CDL Program Delivers Local Talent
June 25, 2026
For many Wayne County employers, finding qualified drivers remains a critical piece of the workforce puzzle. Stark State College is actively bridging this gap by equipping local residents with the rigorous training required to hit the ground running.
Boasting an impressive 99.5% exam pass rate, Stark State’s comprehensive Class A CDL program delivers a minimum of 160 hours of training, blending intensive classroom instruction with extensive behind-the-wheel experience. Students train on both 10-speed manual and automatic transmissions, tackle pre-trip inspection mastery, and graduate prepared for immediate employment and the HazMat endorsement exam.
With staggered class starts every three to four weeks across fast-track Day (five weeks) and Evening/Weekend (eight weeks) cohorts, Stark State provides a steady pipeline of job-ready drivers. Employers looking to upskill their current workforce, or individuals ready to launch a high-demand career, are invited to attend an upcoming CDL information session.
To get started, visit the information session schedule, register for a slot, or explore corporate billing options by visiting starkstate.edu/cdl or contacting the program team directly at cdl@starkstate.edu.
