Higher education opportunities abound in Wayne County. The nation’s largest research institution dedicated to ag-biosciences, the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) is located within our borders.
The College of Wooster
The College of Wooster is an independent liberal arts college, nationally recognized for its innovative curriculum that emphasizes independent learning. U.S. News and World Report ranks it #71 for National Liberal Arts Colleges.
The Independent Study, or I.S., is the cornerstone of a Wooster education. Each Wooster senior creates an original capstone project, written work, performance, or exhibit of artwork, supported one-on-one by a faculty mentor.
The University of Akron Wayne College Campus
Founded in 1972, Wayne College in Orrville is the only regional branch of The University of Akron. The Wayne College Campus has extensive general education offerings, including associate degrees and select bachelor's degrees that can be completed entirely on campus.
The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Wooster Campus
The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Wooster Campus provides educational programs leading to associate degrees in agriculture, horticulture, environmental sciences, business and engineering technology. The goals of the Institute are to offer associate of science and associate of applied science degrees and certificates that include general and technical courses, credit and non-credit continuing education and workforce development opportunities and transfer programs leading to higher levels of education.
The Wooster Campus houses the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center OARDC, the nation’s leading ag-bioscience research institution. OARDC is an impressive resource with thousands of acres of agricultural land. It has directed its resources to advance knowledge and generate economic development opportunities for the people of Ohio and beyond by focusing on three signature areas of research excellence:
