Miller Poultry set to expand its Kidron Road facility
June 25, 2026
Miller Poultry, a family-owned company that has been raising and processing organic and all-natural chicken with the help of local farm families for over 30 years, announced plans to expand its Wayne County operations at its Kidron facility.
With a capital investment of nearly $90 million, Miller Poultry plans to expand its facility by 90,000 square feet, an increase of over 40% in the size of its current operations. This growth will lead to the addition of 75 new jobs, adding to the more than 700 individuals currently employed at the facility.
“We are thrilled with the investment Miller Poultry is making in Wayne County,” said Maribeth Burns, president of the Wayne Economic Development Council. “This significant investment demonstrates confidence in Wayne County and will create new jobs, support local farm families and strengthen one of our region’s key industries for years to come.”
Supported by incentives from JobsOhio and a Wayne County Enterprise Zone Agreement, a tool designed to encourage business growth and investment through temporary property tax incentives, Miller Poultry's expansion will not only create new jobs, but retain existing positions and generate additional payroll that will circulate throughout the local economy. Beyond the direct impact at the facility, the project will support area businesses through increased purchasing and economic activity while strengthening opportunities for local poultry producers and agricultural partners.
"We were proud to support Miller Poultry through the Enterprise Zone process," said Burns. "This project represents a significant investment in Wayne County's future. While the company had opportunities to expand elsewhere, the Enterprise Zone agreement helped strengthen the business case for continued growth right here in Wayne County, benefiting our workforce, agricultural community and local economy."
Acquiring Gerber Poultry in February 2025, Miller Poultry continues to strengthen its presence in Wayne County and throughout the region. Headquartered in Orland, Indiana, the company markets products under the Miller Poultry, Gerber’s Amish Farm Chicken, Katie’s Best and Pine Manor Farms brands, which are available through retailers across the Midwest, including Buehler’s, Heinen’s, Fresh Thyme, Kroger, Meijer, Whole Foods and SpartanNash locations. Miller Poultry has also demonstrated a strong commitment to the communities it serves through charitable giving, partnerships and local support.
"Economic development is about more than buildings and jobs," said Burns. "It's about supporting companies that invest in their employees, give back to their communities and strengthen the industries that help Wayne County thrive. Miller Poultry exemplifies those qualities."
