Economic Development Week: Impact in Action in Wayne County
April 24, 2026
Over the past year, Wayne County has seen real, measurable impact—more than 315 new jobs created, over 1 million square feet of new space, and $166 million+ in total investment.
Those numbers represent more than growth—they reflect businesses choosing to invest here, communities working together, and opportunities being created across Wayne County. They also represent jobs for our residents, growth for our businesses and a stronger future for our county.
To see Impact in Action, we invite you to watch a short video highlighting the projects and progress shaping Wayne County over the past year.
During the week of May 4-8, the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) celebrates Economic Development Week, recognizing the work happening in communities across the country to drive investment, support businesses and strengthen local economies.
Here in Wayne County, that work continues to move forward.
In 2026, the Wayne Economic Development Council (WEDC) is seeing continued momentum through a variety of projects, including the expansion of a local food manufacturer, growth within our agricultural equipment sector, and continued investment from a long-standing industrial company. We’re also seeing a manufacturer reposition operations into a larger, more strategic facility—demonstrating confidence in both their future and our community.
Beyond business growth, quality of life remains a key part of economic development. Current projects include a new facility for the Wayne County Community Foundation and a new banking center in downtown Wooster for the Apple Creek Banking Co.—investments that strengthen the fabric of our community.
As we look ahead, new opportunities continue to take shape, including early-stage project leads such as potential new warehouses being developed.
None of this happens in isolation. Economic development is driven by partnership—working alongside our local communities, business leaders, investors, and regional and state partners like JobsOhio and Team NEO to move projects forward and position Wayne County for long-term success.
Economic Development Week is an opportunity to recognize not only the results, but the collaboration behind them. From our investors and partners to the businesses choosing to grow here, each plays a role in the continued progress of Wayne County.
As we look ahead, the WEDC’s focus remains clear—continuing to turn momentum into meaningful results by enabling growth, creating opportunity and strengthening Wayne County.
And if your business is considering expansion or new investment, we’re here as a resource and would welcome the opportunity to connect and explore how we can support your next step.
We also look forward to continuing the conversation throughout the year through our Briefings For Business (B4B) series, with upcoming topics including property taxes in June, AI and cybersecurity in August, and aerospace and defense in October. Stay tuned for more details.
