Wayne County Job Growth Remains Strong printer friendly viewprinter friendly
Wayne County's job growth continues to outpace most regions of Northeast Ohio according to a report issued by the Center for Economic Development at Cleveland State University.

Between the first quarters of 2004 and 2006, Wayne County's employment increased by 1.5%.  During the same period, the State of Ohio experienced job growth at a rate of 1.0% and Northeast Ohio grew by 0.6 percent.

The study found that total employment throughout the region remained nearly stagnant between 2004 and 2006 but there were shifts in the employment composition of several industries. The manufacturing sector remained the largest industry followed closely by the Health Care and Social Assistance and Retail Trade sectors.

Several sectors in NEO increased their gross product but lost employment during the period, suggesting increased productivity in these industries.  For more information on the brief, visit the Cleveland State University's Center for Economic Development website.
